Students will explore the creative process, develop their artistic skills & experiment with a variety of art materials. We will build on our learning about The Elements and Principles of Art and Design; looking at our color wheel, value and balance. We will use watercolor, graphite,color pencil, acrylic, chalk and oil pastels as well as a variety of other items to create some beautiful masterpieces. We will also learn about some of the famous works and persons in the art world, understanding their ‘process’ and significance of their work that has withstood history.

The course focuses on minerals and rocks, fossils, matter and heat, sound and light, weather, biomes, ecosystems, and the respiratory and circulatory systems. This class is full of hands-on experiments and STEM activities.

Five In A Row Volume 7: We will read 4 books this year, fiction and nonfiction, chapter book units covering Social Studies (including History, Geography, and Career Paths), Science, Language Arts (including Writing and Discussion Questions and Vocabulary), Fine Arts, and Life Skills. For the grammar section of class we will use Galaxy Grammar Yellow Star which will be an engaging, fun way to learn the basics of grammar.

This year, our students will embark on an exciting journey around the world with our “Passport to the World” curriculum. We will explore how God has created this wonderful world around us. Through engaging texts and activities, we will:

* Uncover fascinating facts and wonders from every continent
* Explore the design of ecosystems and biomes
* Delve into the history of great civilizations and global discoveries
* Study capital cities, maps, flags, landmarks, recipes, and foreign languages

To culminate our year, we will host a global feast featuring recipes from our studies and student presentations on countries that particularly resonated with them.

Is your child eager to embark on a foreign language adventure? Are they curious about other languages and cultures but not quite ready for a traditional foreign language class? If so, we have the perfect class for your child!
This Foreign Language Exploratory class will introduce children to non-verbal communication, sign language, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Latin. While the primary focus will be on French and Spanish, we will also explore the vast world of language. This hands-on, activity-based class will teach basic vocabulary, geography, and culture through games, songs, crafts, projects, and various activities.

Designed to bring out the big artists in your little ones! The projects will help: develop problem solving skills, refine motor skills, and build self confidence. A variety of art projects that include painting, drawing and mixed media. We have watercolors, color pencils, crayons, markers, graphite, chalks, oil pastels and more! We will also learn about the Elements and Principles of Art and Design. Each activity provides your child with a hands-on creative experience. We will get messy, so make sure you bring an old shirt or art smock to wear!

Five In A Row Volume 2 features engaging children’s literature such as the Giraffe that Walked to Paris, Owl Moon and Miss Rumphis. We will use books to learn geography, culture and art. Each class will have a hand-on activity to supplement the reading. Additionally this year, we will begin learning very basic grammar. We will go on missions with Galaxy Grammar to get us started. This curriculum is described as, “With a highly immersive storyline and comprehensive, open and go curriculum, Grammar Galaxy can be an intriguing and highly engaging literature-based alternative to traditional language arts textbooks.”

We will be studying from Masterbooks award winning God’s Design for Life. According to their website, “The lessons feature beautiful color pictures, age-appropriate activities, worksheets, Scripture learning, writing practice, and more. Fun and easy-to-use, the God’s Design Series – for Beginners curriculum is ideal for anyone who wants their children to understand creation from a solidly biblical basis.”
