History 4th grade – 6th grade

Course Description

Journey through the United States to discover culture and traditions, God’s natural
wonders, history makers, history markers, science and technology, economic resources,
exploration, and industries. Elements include statehood dates, capital cities, state flowers, state
birds, and state nicknames. We will be using the MasterBooks fun passport curriculum. We will
have a hands-on venture through each of the states. We will have opportunities to taste foods
from specific areas and recreate artifacts along the way. All while we fill up our “Passport”
around the states.

History 1st grade – 3rd grade

Course Description

This year we will be custom tailoring a variety of social studies topics for the kids
to explore. We will take a hands-on approach while creating our social studies notebook. Topics
of learning are democracy and government, ‘what is it- why do we need it?’ We’ll look at
historical figures who have created things we just can’t live without! We’ll explore while we look
at some geography concepts… and while exploring we will look at some different cultures and
people groups. And we will also hit on some economics topics- goods and services, labor and
money, and the like. Throughout the year the kids will have opportunities to make topical
projects meaningful to them as well as present to their friends in class helping to reinforce things
learned.
*I will be creating and printing the textbook/workbook for this class. Therefore the supply and
textbook cost will be combined for the year.

Art 4-6

Course Description

Students will explore the creative process, develop their artistic skills & experiment
with a variety of art materials. We will build on our learning about The Elements and Principles
of Art and Design; looking at our color wheel, value and balance. We will use watercolor,
graphite,color pencil, acrylic, chalk and oil pastels as well as a variety of other items to create
some beautiful masterpieces. We will also learn about some of the famous works and persons
in the art world.

Art 1-3

Course Description

Designed to bring out the big artists in your little ones! The projects will help:
develop problem solving skills, refine motor skills, and build self confidence. A variety of art
projects that include painting, drawing and mixed media. We will also learn about the Elements
and Principles of Art and Design. Each activity provides your child with a hands-on creative
experience. We will get messy, so make sure you bring an old shirt or art smock to wear!

Course Description

This year we will study engineering and physics. We will learn about Isaac Newton and Thomas
Edison. Unit studies on motion, forces, energy, and more are planned. Students will have a few
fun at home projects to supplement the current topics.. This class is heavy with STEAM
activities. Age appropriate homework is required each week but there are no tests given for this
age group.

1-3 Science: Science Chunks Year A

Course Description

This year we will do science by unit studies with topics on Plants, Biomes, Solar System, Atoms,
Light, and Sound, plus a unit on Gregor Mendel. Science class is hands-on. There will be
scheduled readings and minimal homework will be assigned each week and checked in class
on the due date. There will be a few projects to accompany learning along the way. There are
no grades for this class as it is for the love of learning.

1-3 Learning through Literature

Course Description

We will enjoy reading classic Children’s Literature from Five In A Row Vol. 1. Using books such
as A Story About Ping, Lentil, & A pair of Red Clogs, we will travel the world. We will try some
fun foods, make cute crafts and begin learning literary devices. This class is hands-on and basic
supplies of glue, markers/crayons and pencils are needed every week.

Kindergarten

Course Description

This Kindergarten program is to help enhance your child’s foundation.
Kindergarten is very important and is the beginning of a child’s learning career. Each child has
their own way of learning and it’s important to help each child learn in their own little way.

We will use crafts, activities, and music to help keep each child engaged and make learning fun.

This program is to help your child learn and recognize upper case and lower-case letters, begin
to learn letter sounds, work on tracing, writing, learn number & counting. Learn to hold a pencil
and while doing all of this they will continue to work on their motor skills and social skills.
At the end of each class we will read a bible story and sing.

Learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet, recognize each
letter, learn the vowels.
Learn and recognize numbers, shapes, colors
Learn how to hold a pencil/crayon. How to hold and use scissors
(motor skills)
